CASology Week #49 Fish!

There is something fishy over at CASology this week!

Salmon, halibut, or cod, most fish are just darned ugly!  My daughter is doing a degree in Biology at the University of Victoria and marine biology is her major.  She loves sharks but since there aren't many sharks in the waters around us she has focussed more on fish, specifically salmon.  Just to add insult to injury, my husband's favourite past time is fishing for, you guessed it, salmon.  It makes for interesting dinner conversations for sure!

Supplies:  Card stock [Staples, Recollections, Papertrey Ink], Dies [Taylored Expressions], Stamps [Papertrey Ink, American Crafts], Twine [American Crafts].

I try to stay firmly neutral on the whole sport/commercial fishing debate at my house.  I see both sides to the issue.  I'm not a huge fan of salmon dinners but my husband does a pretty amazing job of cooking his catch so I do eat it.

The sentiment was created on my computer and printed on the tag using a technique that I describe on this post.

CASology Week #48 Yellow

This week's cue card is yellow!

Several songs popped into my head and lots of visuals like bananas, sunshine, and lemons.  I really wanted to go in a different direction [read that I didn't have any banana stamps which is really what I wanted to do].  So, I decided to take Gayatri Murali's seriously clever idea here and run with it a bit.

Supplies:  Cardstock [Staples], Stamps [Papertrey Ink], Ink [Onyx Black]

I was thinking that you could coordinate the t-shirt colour, the image and the sentiment with your grad's school colours.  As a high school teacher, grad is definitely front and center right now!  Only one week of classes left before exams start!  This T-shirt is definitely a girl's, but My Favorite Things makes a great guy T-shirt die as well!

I can't wait to see how you interpret yellow!

Party Animal!

Just quickly popping by to share a card I made for my daughter to give her dad [my husband] for his birthday on Saturday.  I love working with the smaller 3" x 4" card size!

Hope you had a great weekend!

CASology Week #47 - Wheels

Oh boy, but this is one seriously fun cue card this week at CASology:

My first thought was a car.  Then I thought of a bicycle.  Then, while looking at my recent stamp purchases, I thought of a ship's wheel.

I'm a navy brat.  Born on one ocean, I grew up on another.  My dad even had a coffee table made from a ship's wheel.  My children grew up learning to walk by turning my dad's ship's wheel coffee table!  So, of course, I went with a ship's wheel!  My dad is gone and so is the ship's wheel coffee table [thankfully my brother has it] but the good memories remain!  Plus, my husband is a fisherman!  Good thing he doesn't read my blog because this is his birthday card!

Supplies:  Card stock (Staples, Papertrey Ink), Stamps (Paper Smooches, Avery Elle), Dies (Lil' Inker), Punch (Fiskars)

And, I'm right on trend...nautical themed products are so hot right now!

I'm looking forward to seeing your "wheelie" great takes on this week's cue card!

Happy Birthday Ardyth!

Darnell organized this fun blog hop for our good friend, and my fellow design team member at CASologyArdyth!

Our task was to CASE one of Ardyth's cards and make a birthday card for her.  So, I scooted over to Ardyth's blog MASKerade and scrolled through her posts for some inspiration.

Here is my card:

Supplies:  Card stock [Staples, Neenah], Design Paper [Bella Blvd], Stamps [Papertrey Ink]

I didn't CASE a single card but took some elements that I noticed about her technique and incorporated them into my own style.

Happy Birthday Ardyth!  I hope you have a great day!

CASology Week #46 Furry!

What a fun cue card this week:

We are sponsored this week by Paper Smooches Stamps which are the creative inspiration from the fabulous Kim Hughes!  I went through my large"ish" stash of Paper Smooches stamps and found a darling little dog in the Chubby Chums set that fit this cue card to a "T".

Supplies:  Card stock [Staples, Recollections, Neenah], Dies [Taylored Expressions, Papertrey Ink, Lil' Inker], Stamps [Paper Smooches].

For those of you who have been following my blog for a while you know about my love/hate relationship with white embossing powder.  I've been using the EK Success Powder Tool and am still working on perfecting my technique.

I can't wait to see how you tackle this cue card!  Go fetch your favourite "furry" stamp and ink it up!

CASology Week #45 Royal

What a fabulous cue card this week at CASology:

Here is my card using the Paper Smooches frog from the A Little Lovin' set:

Supplies:  Card stock [Staples, Papertrey Ink], Stamps [Paper Smooches, Lawn Fawn].

I can always use a thank you card for my classroom guest speakers so this one will go quickly.  Also, it would work for a guy or a girl...bonus!

Hope you are having a "royal" week!
