Sweet "Gorjuss" Girl Card

Happy Monday!

I'm busy at work on my next couple of videos [one is almost in the bag but you won't see it until the end of the month].  I have so many ideas for videos!

I had some serious fun with watercolour yesterday afternoon.  It was hurricane-like weather where I live:  BIG winds and lots of rain so I headed down to my craft room to play.  Earlier in the week, when I was cleaning up, I found some images I had stamp, embossed and left uncoloured.  I just love Gorjuss girl stamps and hope to add a couple to my collection.  They are fun to colour!  When watercolouring I do like to stamp with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then emboss with clear embossing powder right away.  It helps to keep me in the lines!

Supplies: Cardstock [Recollections 110lb, Strathmore Cold Pressed 140 lb watercolour paper, Pretty Pink Posh 4mm Gold Metallic Sequins, Distress Markers/Ink].

I think this is the first card that I've used sequins on that I actually liked!

Hope your week is off to a good start!

My First Card Video!

I promised you something big and this is B.I.G. big.  I got a Canon camcorder for Christmas from my husband.  I knew I wanted to try making a video but I thought I'd just use my iPhone.  A new video camera was a surprise for sure!  He even helped me rig up an overhead camera mount.  What a great guy!

Making and editing a video is harder than it looks.  Thank goodness for YouTube and the myriad of self-help videos for us newbies.  I think there is some irony that YouTube helped me make my own YouTube video!

Here is the card I made:

I used the sweetest little girl image from My Favorite Things Jingle All the Way stamps and dies.  I think she is cute enough to use all winter long!  I love anything Torico illustrates!

The paper is from Doodlebug's Frosty Friends 6 x 6 paper pad.  I also used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Rectangle dies and a stitched line die from Paper Smooches.  The little snowflakes were created with a die from Memory Box that I cannot find for sale anywhere.  So sorry!  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Wet Paint die collection.

Here is the video:

If you live in Canada you know the pain of our lower dollar.  I'll let you in on a little secret though.  You can get a wide selection of the latest paper crafting supplies like Lawn Fawn stamps, dies and papers from Scrapbooks by Design.  They have super-fast service and an amazing selection of paper crafting supplies all at really great prices IN CANADIAN DOLLARS!

It is really hard to put myself out there with a video.  I am naturally an "under the radar" kind of person.  I think the hardest part was the voiceover.  I kept messing up!  Be kind!

I have too much patterned paper...

but then doesn't everyone?  Well everyone who makes cards or scrapbooks probably could say they do!

I am making it my mission in 2015 to use some of it up!  Here is one try:

Supplies:  Patterned Paper [Doodlebug], Dies [Simon Says Stamp, Mama Elephant], Twine [Doodlebug]

It is a case of this card by Kristina Werner.  I don't have all the supplies she has but, again, I want to use what I have because I have lots to choose from!

I'm working on a big project right now and hopefully I'll have something BIG to share next week.  Getting over a nasty head cold.  Ugh!

Hope your first week at work/school/or whatever went well!

Papertrey Ink December Blog Hop

It's that time of the month [and I don't mean Christmas which is thankfully over...whew].  It's time for Papertrey Ink's blog hop!

I was inspired by the first photo Nichole provided:

And here is my card:

Supplies:  Cardstock [Recollections], Stamp [Simon Says Stamp], Dies [Papertrey Ink, Lil' Inkers]

I inked the background so that the rest of the scene stood out a bit more.  This is not my first try at creating a card for this challenge but I do like this one the best.

I'll save this for next year although I do think it could work as a thank you card.

Hope you get time to get out and about to the Boxing Day sales!

CASology Week #127 Light

It's time for another CASology cue card:

And here is my card:

Supplies:  Cardstock [Neenah], Stamps [Lawn Fawn], Dies [Lawn Fawn, Lil' Inkers]

I don't know about you but I'm tired of Christmas/Winter cards so I'm changing things up and going in a totally different direction.

Our sponsor this week is Add a Little Dazzle.

Remember that you have until Monday January 5, 2015 [!] at noon [CST] to submit your card!  This is a two week challenge.

This is my final post as a design team member for CASology.  It has been a seriously fun time working with these amazingly talented card makers and a very supportive "boss lady," Melissa.  I'm a person of few words but know that I have truly loved being on this team!

Gingerbread Tags

My daughter is getting together with some of her friends to make gingerbread cookies tonight.  She has been close friends with these girls since they were all in kindergarten together [18 years ago] so I know them all really well!

I thought it would be fun to make a little kit for them to create gingerbread tags to go with their creations.  I had recently watched this video from Nicol Magouirk and thought her little gift bag would make the perfect place to store the bits and pieces.

Supplies:  Card Stock [Recollections], Stamps [Papertrey Ink, My Favorite Things], Dies [Lawn Fawn, Papertrey Ink]

Here is a snap shot of the contents:

And the finished tags I created as a sample so they would know how to put them together:

It took me about an hour to put the kits together and I still want to add one more tweak to the kits as an afterthought.  I enjoyed doing them and I know those girls will love them.

I used a cut file from the Silhouette Store [#5106].  I love that it came with a girl and boy cookie!

CASology Week #126 - Snow

It's time for another CASology cue card:

And here is my card:

Supplies:  Cardstock [Neenah], Stamps:  [Lawn Fawn], Dies [Lawn Fawn, Mama Elephant], Other [Embossing Folder, Hero Arts].

Hands up if you have a pile of un-loved 6x6 patterned paper pads in your craft space.  I do!  Being a predominantly clean and simple card maker, patterned paper doesn't often make an appearance in my projects.  But I do love it, hoard it and purchase it.  So I need to use it up!  I think even though I covered the entire card front with patterned paper, I made it more clean and simple by using that paper as a mat for my white card stock piece.

Remember that you have until Monday at noon [CST] to submit your card!
